James River Batteau at Wingina on the James River

The Batteau Festival is an eight day flat boat journey from Lynchburg to near Richmond in the tradition of the Batteau which once carried goods and passengers in Early America. Batteaux crew will be attired in period costume. The batteaux will pull into the Game Commission landing at the James River Bridge on Route 56 in Wingina.
