Hurricane Camille Remembrance Day at Oakland Museum
The following people will be at Oakland during the day to discuss various aspects of the devastation from Hurricane Camille:
• Ann Witt from VA Department of Energy Mineral and Mines Division will discuss landslides created from Camille.
• VA State Trooper Ed Tinsley will discuss his data along with recently acquired records from Sheffield Funeral Home.
• Charles Allen, a rising high school senior in 1969 from Massies Mill, will recall his experiences on August 19th.
• Wade Lanning will present his research on the effects of Camille on the North Fork of Tye River.
• Dick Whitehead will be available throughout the day to interact with visitors.
A new exhibit with many Camille items will be on display during the day, along with videos and pictures from the Society’s collection.
