Have you ever wanted to experience the beauty of the long awaited Blue Ridge Tunnel but are physically unable to make the walk up to the tunnel? We will help you with that dream during our Accessibility Day. We will have golf carts running on rotation to provide those with limited mobility a chance to ride up and see the Eastern portal, a ride through the tunnel and then witness the picture worthy stone archway entrance on the Western portal before returning to the Eastern Trailhead parking lot. The event will take place 9AM to 1PM at the Eastern Trailhead parking lot located at 215 Afton Depot Lane in Afton, VA. Members of the Blue Ridge Tunnel Foundation and Nelson County Parks and Recreation will be on hand to offer historical guidance of the tunnel and restoration project that took place prior to opening in November 2020. This event is by sign up only. We will not have availability for walk up rides on the day of the event. Registration Open Thursday, September 5!
