The Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch has begun its 47th season of monitoring the fall hawk migration! We’ll be monitoring the migration through the end of November, and we welcome visitors at any time. Come join us as we witness this great migration and enjoy a fun day of family events. Here you’ll be able to try out binoculars as well as meet our counters and learn about how we conduct a hawk watch and why. Refreshments will be provided, a variety of educational and conservation exhibits as well as mounted raptor specimens will be on display. The Wildlife Center of Virginia, Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary, Rivanna Master Naturalists, Monarch Butterfly Life Cycle, Rockingham Bird Club, Charlottesville Tree Stewards, Bluebird Society, a Master Falconer, and Augusta Bird Club will present a variety of exhibits as well as live animal programs. Be sure to bring your binoculars, a lawn chair (or blanket) and sunscreen! Parking available at the Inn at Afton parking lot.
